I’ve done this before.
Started newsletters.
Changed directions.
Switched platforms.
Tried to find the “right” combination of format, angle, and identity that would stick.
I’ve grown to 100+ subscribers a couple times, then let things drift and die when life got heavy, client work piled up, or I burned out on my own ideas.
This time, I’m committing myself to something different: I’m sticking with it.
Here’s the plan:
I'm changing my How I AI newsletter back to being a “true” newsletter. I'll keep it short, actionable, minimalist/atomic style, 2x per week on Beehiiv.
Unscaled Solopreneur is my new home here on Substack. It’s where I’ll write the kind of emails I’ve wanted to send all along—insight-letter style notes about building a solo business, without chasing scale, teams, or 12-hour days.
I’ll write 2–3 times a week here (more if I can), syndicate to Medium, and aim to post daily on Substack Notes.
I’ll create and sell simple products through High Level (or Gumroad when I need to move fast).
Ill do one-on-one coaching and consulting as opportunities come up.
For notes and writing, I’m using Capacities. For task management, Akiflow.
And most importantly, I’m requiring a minimum 5.5 months of commitment. No more switching systems or second-guessing. I’m doing this until the end of the year. No excuses, no pivots. That may not be enough to see results, but it's as far as I can see right now.
Why?
Because I want to build a business that works for my life, not the other way around.
And because I’m tired of starting over without finishing.
If you’re in a similar spot—raising kids, juggling real life, trying to build something that brings income and meaning without taking over your whole existence—I hope you’ll stick around.
I’m an Unscaled Solopreneur.
I’m building smart, not big.
I start today.
